EPIDEMIOLOGIST: Karonga Prevention Study
We have an exciting opportunity for an Epidemiologist/Statistician to play an important role in a large Wellcome-Trust supported research programme based in northern Malawi. The programme’s current focus is on tuberculosis, HIV epidemiology, demography and vaccination and we are planning a programme including non-communicable disease studies. The post-holder will be expected to co-ordinate and supervise field activities, conduct statistical analysis and write up findings for publication and contribute to development of future proposals.
The ideal candidate will have a postgraduate degree in epidemiology or a related subject, or equivalent experience, excellent data management and analysis skills, a broad understanding of fieldwork and project work, and strong communication skills.
The appointment will be based in rural Malawi, and will be available until 31 May 2012 in the first instance. The appointment will be on the national academic scale (research fellow or lecturer, clinical or non-clinical) with a salary in the range of £32,025 to £40,611 non-clinical per annum inclusive or £30,992 to £43,004 clinical per annum inclusive, plus displacement allowance of £3,456 per annum if applicable.
